Peptone from Meat (Meat Peptone)
For preparation of microbial culture media and fermentation processes
- Description
- Quality Control
Peptide digestion of animal tissues results in a complex mixture known as meat peptone. As a rich source of nutrients for cultivating a diverse array of bacteria, it is essential in microbiology labs. Both fastidious bacteria with growth requirements and non-fastidious bacteria that can grow in less complicated conditions are included in this.
Among the many vital elements that meat peptone offers for bacterial growth are:
Free amino acids are directly incorporated by bacteria to synthesis proteins. They are the building blocks of proteins.
Carbon and nitrogen are necessary components for the synthesis of new cells.
B vitamins are essential for a number of metabolic activities in bacteria, and meat peptone is a rich source of these nutrients.
Due to high content of sulfur, meat peptone is appropriate for hydrogen sulfide bacteria such as salmonella.
Shelf life and storage
Store peptone from meat between 10-30 °C in a ventilated and low humidity place and protected from light. Close the container tightly after use. Use before expiry date.
