Cefoxitin is a member of cephalosporin class of antibiotics. Cefoxitin links with Penicillin-Binding-Proteins and create an unstable bacterial cell wall. It is mostly active against anaerobe organisms. Cefoxitin is not sensitive to β-lactamases positive by gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria. Some genus like Enterobacter and Pseudomonas are resistant to cefoxitin.
